My princesses
- Xsara and Tani
- Sava Sara Brakada, AKA Xsara was born on 06-27-2004. She was raised in Kennel Brakada spending the first two months of her life on beautiful countryside Gorenjska (Slovenia) with her siblings and parents. As soon as she came to Ljubljana we started a puppy class, followed by an obedience class. She passed her B-bh exam with 96 points (instructor Agility EO winner Polona Bonač). We now continue with Rally-Obedience under Polona's supervision. Our biggest passion however is Agility. We started our first Agility class in October 2005 (club Agility Ilirija, instructor Silvia Trkman, two times agility world champion). When Silvia stopped teaching agility classes, we switched to Daša Zakotnik. We regularly participate in Agility trials in Slovenia and sometimes abroad. Xsara also loves to learn new dog tricks, you can see some of them in our videos. Her other passions include long walks, big meals and playing with dogs, specially her pyr shep sister Tani, her crazy agility pals and her sister Sena.

A Trial in Ajdovščina - New Video
I'm attaching Xsara's second run from Ajdovščina. I think this was probably one of our worse runs until now, but it happened to be the first time we remembered to bring a camera. I finally have all the equipment so there will be more videos from now on. Today we are going to the sea with Ben and in Italy to get Interceptor pills. Maybe I will manage to catch something on the camera.

A Trial in Ajdovščina
On yesterday's trial in Ajdovščina we had an off-course on the first obstacle because of my mastake. Nevertheless we finished the course very nicely. We had a very nice day, like it's summer already. After the trial we visited Xsara's breeder since their kennel gained five new puppies yesterday. Otherwise Xsara and I have been training for B-bh exam. I'm attaching the link to the video of Xsara's first run from yesterday's trial without the disqualifying mistake (no censorship, the girl who was taping it just turned the camera on a little late):

First Performance in A2/J2

Yesterday we had our first competition on A2/J2 medium level. We had both clean runs, which means no faults, we only gained a couple of seconds on time because I was having some difficulties remembering the course (the combination was very difficult). We still finished on 3rd place which was very unexpected. Xsara is a constant surprise to me. This week she also learned a new trick: she can now do figure eight between my legs backwards. I can't wait for our next obedience course because Xsara is really fun to work with!

About Trials, Off-Courses And Weaves

We had a trial in Prestranek yesterday. Unfortunately we had an off-course on the weaves, which hasn't happened in a really long time. We were also the test team for A2/J2 M level and it was pretty good, we got 1 fault because I made a mistake. The time was unfortunately not so good since I made several other mistakes that I really didn't have to make. It's always my fault, not Xsara's. Anyhow, we did well in the Eukanuba Winter Cup and became combined champions on our level. The wins in Gornja Radgona and Železniki plus 5th place in Postojna were enough (three best results out of four trials count)to gain 1st place all combined. I think we won't be getting trophies for some time now that we are on next level, so I'm glad we successfully left the first level!

First Place!

Xsara earned another sandwich on yesterday's competition. With two clean runs and good times she placed 1st. I was particularly happy because this means we accomplished the last requirement to proceed to the next competing level. We will run on 2nd level on the first outdoors trial. To cheer us there were our breeder Neva, Xsara's sister Sena with her Aša and baby Gaja and, of course our Gašper. We were also happy to see some snow but there wasn't much of it. The day passed ever so quickly.

Indoor Trial Going Well

Yesterday Xsara proved that running indoors is not really a problem for her. She won the competition for Eukanuba Winter Cup in Gornja Radgona. She got my sandwich and a long walk for the reward and she was so tired afterwards that she just went to sleep. She also impressed the mayor who came to see the trial and was amazed by her. Smart mayor ;-)
Since I don't have any photos of Xsara from this trial, I'm adding a picture from Slovenska Bistrica where Xsara won her first trophy last year. We agreed then that she would get my lunch every time she places among the first three dogs in a trial. On this photo she is recieving my sandwich.

New Year
Xsara spent the New Year on the beach. We were walking by the sea for the entire day. Although she loves snow, she also enjoys sunshine if it doesn't get too hot. And she is specially crazy about long walks that last for the entire day.
These days I am particularly proud of Xsara. She learned to jump in my arms while I'm standing up. When we started to train some experts told me it was probably impossible to teach this trick to a beagle. They were wrong!

First Indoor Competition

Despite being in heat Xsara behaved very well this week. We had our first indoor competition in Postojna. Unfortunately she wasn't really concentrated so we gained some faults, plus the floor was very slippery. We finished on 5th place. But I was really happy that she didn't run out of the ring like she did the last time she was in heat. Running indoors is very different from outside, that's why the dog needs to get used to it.
Two months ago Xsara got seven siblings. We went to see them last weekend, before they leave the breeder and go to their new homes. One of the girls reminded me of Xsara a lot and I just fell in love with her. But Gašper and I agreed that Xsara would remain an only child for now.

Agi4Fun
Xsara is in heat. She marks her territory on our daily walks so that all the dog will be able to find our house. Despite this and some digestional problems (she ate some sharp cut pumpkin when I wasn't looking and was vomiting afterwards) she is behaving well. Last Saturday we were on an unofficial agility competition in Koper (Agi4fun) and we were 3rd although some other teams were really good. The course was very difficult so I'm really proud of this accomplishment and Xsara earned to get calamari for dinner.
