Sava Sara Brakada, AKA Xsara was born on 06-27-2004. She was raised in Kennel Brakada spending the first two months of her life on beautiful countryside Gorenjska (Slovenia) with her siblings and parents. As soon as she came to Ljubljana we started a puppy class, followed by an obedience class. She passed her B-bh exam with 96 points (instructor Agility EO winner Polona Bonač). We now continue with Rally-Obedience under Polona's supervision. Our biggest passion however is Agility. We started our first Agility class in October 2005 (club Agility Ilirija, instructor Silvia Trkman, two times agility world champion). When Silvia stopped teaching agility classes, we switched to Daša Zakotnik. We regularly participate in Agility trials in Slovenia and sometimes abroad. Xsara also loves to learn new dog tricks, you can see some of them in our videos. Her other passions include long walks, big meals and playing with dogs, specially her pyr shep sister Tani, her crazy agility pals and her sister Sena.

Schnappi Rhimes With Puppy :)

Yes, well, I'm sure you've all deduced that we're getting a new puppy :) So I'll stop being misterious. Why do I keep calling her my Christmas present? It's because she was born on Christmas! A very cool date to celebrate her birthday, I must say. I didn't want to talk publicly about her until I was absolutely sure about everything - and now I am :) So let me tell you more about Xsara's little sister: First of all, I decided to try another breed this time. I love beagles and will always have them, but I also want to try something else. So we're getting a beautiful little pyr shep. I will go to the Pyrenees to get her in two weeks. She is a sweet little blue merle girl from de Loubajac kennel. Her mother is Pecquelette de Loubajac (also famous La's mother, so they are step sisters), while her dad Hobnob's Victor comes from Sweden. I have her pictures but cannot post them for copyright purposes. However, I promise to post some when she comes to stay with us. I will try leading a separate blog for little Tani (short for Katana, 'cause we're naming her after a cool motorcycle) because raising a pyr shep puppy will be a lot different from what we do with Xsara.

Otherwise not much news to report. We still have snow, rain and lousy weather, but were able to attend a couple of training sessions nevertheless. Xsara seems to feel great, which, of course, makes me incredibly happy! Whenever the weather permits, we go out and play in the snow and go for long walks and she seems very relaxed. I'm sure she'll love to have company, to play with and to misbehave together :) Her billboards are still accross the country and I finally got used to seing them everywhere. I like the feeling, but I have to say it's still kind of weird.

UPDATE: To clear things up - I see some people think we're getting a Great Pyrenees :) Pyr sheps are very small, nervous shepherds that work together with them, so it's quite a different breed! We're getting one of those.

Ooooooohhhh, how exciting! We'd guessed it was a puppy but assumed it would be another Beagle!

We can't wait to meet Tani! Xsara is going to have a great time showing her "the ropes". You know, here in the States, people may say that they have a "Pyrenees" Sheppard (but they get it from a breeder here in the states), but you are actually getting one from the Pyrenees! How cool is that!

Pyrs are sooo pretty and so calm and nice. My mom only knows them from transporting them from shelter to rescue group. One pyr filled up the whole back seat of her Honda! This is really exciting! I know Xsara will have a lot of fun running with her little (but not for long) sister.

Xsara's new sister is a step sister to La!! How cool is that?! And a blue merle too, my favorite! If not another beagle, a Pyr Shep is such a perfect choice ... and not common at all around here. Before discovering Silvia I wasn't familiar with them.

I love beagles too. But I will admit, after running my beagles in agility (we still haven't trialed yet, not sure we will) I've been curious what it would be like to run a breed more suited to agility. I know beagles can be amazing agility dogs, as Xsara shows us, but we both know they aren't the "easiest"! Marvin's nose can still lead him astray, which is why I'm not sure trialing is something I want to attempt.

Big congratulation on your new Tani (love the name and love that you named her after a cool motorcycle, motorcycles are awesome!). Can't wait to see photos!

Just curious, is Tani a smooth-faced or rough-faced Pyr Shep?

Hi
Sorry we haven't been by for a while. Wow a lot has happened in that time. Good to see that Xsara is better and that she became a star across the country! And a new puppy!! Will have to go and google pyr sheps as I am not familiar with them at all. Can't wait to see the pictures of Tani.
