Sava Sara Brakada, AKA Xsara was born on 06-27-2004. She was raised in Kennel Brakada spending the first two months of her life on beautiful countryside Gorenjska (Slovenia) with her siblings and parents. As soon as she came to Ljubljana we started a puppy class, followed by an obedience class. She passed her B-bh exam with 96 points (instructor Agility EO winner Polona Bonač). We now continue with Rally-Obedience under Polona's supervision. Our biggest passion however is Agility. We started our first Agility class in October 2005 (club Agility Ilirija, instructor Silvia Trkman, two times agility world champion). When Silvia stopped teaching agility classes, we switched to Daša Zakotnik. We regularly participate in Agility trials in Slovenia and sometimes abroad. Xsara also loves to learn new dog tricks, you can see some of them in our videos. Her other passions include long walks, big meals and playing with dogs, specially her pyr shep sister Tani, her crazy agility pals and her sister Sena.

Home, Sweet Home

We are back - for now, at least. Our vacation was great, Xsara got to rest a little and play a lot. She even went swimming a couple of times, but she's not as crazy of water as I am. And I managed to take the best picture I've ever seen of Xsara with her favorite ball. This was during the first part of our vacation on the island Losinj in Croatia where my father is from.

I've always admired this village and it's nature, and I was really happy to be able to enjoy it with Xsara.
For the second part of our vacation, we went back to Strunjan, where we relaxed a lot. I missed agility super hard, but I think Xsara really needed to rest. They say that you sometimes need a chance to miss what you love the most, just to remember how much it means to you. We have training tomorrow and we'll see if this will reveal to be truth. But even though we didn't do agility, we kept ourselves busy with other activities. Such as frisbee. Frisbee is still fun for Xsara, so that makes me very happy.

We also trained running to the visible target on the ground and Xsara outran me every single time. I really didn't have a chance. And one evening we even took her to a concert where she met my favorite band, unfortunately only the lead singer was missing.

We had sunny weather for the entire time. There was just this horrible storm on Friday night and it destroyed many trees, boats and tents in the nearby camp, so all the unhappy campers had to sleep in their cars. We were so lucky to be in the warm house where it was safe! Everything else was as close to perfection as it gets, although Xsara is very happy to be back at home. She loves adventures but is always happy when we return. I haven't managed to upload all the pictures to my PC yet - I will do so in the following days and post the best ones here. Right now it's already late here so I'm wishing sweet dreams to everyone!

I'm back. We've been away for 3 weeks and are slowly catching up with all our pals' blogs. Sounds like you had a really good hol. I recognise the Princess Leia "ear-do". I had one just like that!

Oh, I'm a firm believer in breaks being the BEST for training. They've even done scientific research proving that. Seems like when you come back, you're ahead of where you were when you stopped.

Glad you had a good break. No dog (or dog owner for that matter) ever got hurt from taking a well-earned break. :)

She even wanted to teach me your right legs up n hands stand tricks but i don't think i hv the patience. You have so many nice spots to go for vacations...makes me envy.

Hi Barby,

Thank you for the update on La. I felt bad because I hadn't looked on Silvia's web site in a while and when I finally did I read about La. How scary! But I'm soo sooo glad she's back to her energetic self. She's an inspiration to so many out there ... we need her!

I do hope Silvia comes back to the US again for a seminar sometime soon. I think you and Xsara should come along because you have a lot to teach as well! It would be a dream to see you and Xsara run together in person, being a beagle mom and all. Is Silvia getting a new puppy this year? She mentioned she was adding a new border collie to her family when she was here back in February.

Take care,
Jackie

Hello,

You wrote a comment there are 9 months ago on the blog of Linda (my beagle), but I do not answered before your comment because I do not know English very well.

I invite you to visit the site (http://beaglelinda.wordpress.com) updated, several videos on the site: tricks, agility training and competitions. I know you do not know my language (Portuguese), but I can translate to you.

The name of my beagle is Linda, it is 5 years old and was adopted when she was 3 years and 6 months of age. She learned agility as a joke, it currently competes in state competitions in Brazil. She won the championship in second place, it lost to a Shetland Sheepdog.

She does not like to run, but it is very obedient. Let me ask you a hint of how do I motivate her to run in agility. In training I use pieces of bread as a snack (she loves it). It does not like toys.

Hugs,
Sandra (Linda's owner) - Brazil - Rio de Janeiro
