Sava Sara Brakada, AKA Xsara was born on 06-27-2004. She was raised in Kennel Brakada spending the first two months of her life on beautiful countryside Gorenjska (Slovenia) with her siblings and parents. As soon as she came to Ljubljana we started a puppy class, followed by an obedience class. She passed her B-bh exam with 96 points (instructor Agility EO winner Polona Bonač). We now continue with Rally-Obedience under Polona's supervision. Our biggest passion however is Agility. We started our first Agility class in October 2005 (club Agility Ilirija, instructor Silvia Trkman, two times agility world champion). When Silvia stopped teaching agility classes, we switched to Daša Zakotnik. We regularly participate in Agility trials in Slovenia and sometimes abroad. Xsara also loves to learn new dog tricks, you can see some of them in our videos. Her other passions include long walks, big meals and playing with dogs, specially her pyr shep sister Tani, her crazy agility pals and her sister Sena.

Puppy Disaster

People always assume Xsara was an obedient puppy because she knows so many tricks now. To tell you the truth - she wasn't! She was destroying my things, listened to me only when she wanted to and she was making me crazy sometimes. The only reason why this behavior changed is TRAINING. She is teaching me so much about dogs, difficult dogs will do that to you. To show you what I mean, I created this funny album with some of her best artworks (I didn't make photos of all of them, mainly because at one point I stopped finding it funny). You can view it clicking on this button:

Seeing this photos anyone will agree I simply have to work with her if I want to live with her, and I love every second of our training. I really believe she needs this - she was bred for work and since I can't go hunting with her, the least I can do is work with her in a different way. And working with her is the best thing in my life. When I can see how she finally understood a new trick or finish a nice run with her, that's just the best feeling ever. It's as close to perfection as one can get!

Hi Xsara,
Well well you look just like Dixie when she was a puppy!! Everyday mum came home from work something new had been chewed up - the telephone, so many CD's, the heater and computer cords, a permanent marker which she managed to draw all over the carpet with, pens, a packet of cigarettes, magazines, books, shoes etc. Everything was put away but everyday she had managed to find something to chew. Mum got really mad sometimes. We are happy to say that she no longer chews these kind of things and sticks to her dog gum or other dog chewy things!

My mom wish she could train me in the same way! Thankfully I am not a destroyer girl!

Well, all I can say is, OMdoG!!! She did a pawsome job destroying things in the house! But maybe for you, it's not coz...well...you know. You must have gotten mad with her many times. I was never destructive at all. All I only chewed on was my hooman M's rocking chair. But only a little bit & that was it, nothing else!

You're right, training helps to keep her busy, take her mind of things that she wants to destroy & other stuff. OB training also helps to calm the dog down a bit. I've calmed down alot since I started OB at 3mths old. I'm more obedient, responsive & attentive. That's why I can do other things like sports just like Xsara.

Love licks,

Well, our main thing is agility and tricks, because Xsara is a very active doggy and needs to run a lot. We only do some RO for fun and we love it.

She hasn't destroyed a thing in a very long time, but I know some adult beagles who are still big destroyers as adults. I don't know if this is directly related to the breed, but I guess some breeds could be more "destructive" than others ...

Woooooo! You could qualify as a Siberian Husky with that kind of destruction! :) I think your agility training goes with our mom's favorite saying, "A tired Siberian is a good Siberian." We are all very well-behaved now because we get so much exercise and training reminders! And it's FUN!

Dave

The army of four: I love your saying, and I totally agree!

Girasol: you know how they say, "one day we will look back and it will all seem very funny". So yeah, it's funny now but it wasn't so funny at the moment ... you know what I mean :0)

Hi Xsara,

Nice to meet you! I know one Beagle that does agility but she barks so much in class I don't know how she has time to jump anything. My mom trains me all the time too -- I was also a bad puppy and terrorized my housemates but now I'm a good dog. I have an older brother who looks just like me but he's had no training at his house so he's not a good boy. I agree, training sure helps me figure out what Mom wants! I have more fun than my older brother, I bet.
Your blog is so interesting! I'll come back and read it more often!

Love,
Rudy

Hi ya Xsara! we're back from our long road trip & sniffed over 2 c whacha up 2. Girlfriend you can sure get down with the best of us chewers! Tell your mommy that our mommy decided to leave something different everyday to shred or chew so we would stop messing up the good stuff like the furniture & shoes. Now we get egg cartons or empty doggie treat boxes or an old shoe or ads or pie boxes or well you get the idea so good luck!

love licks & wagging tails Tx trio barking loud

I actually think Xsara's plan was to destroy everything I was doing if I wasn't playing with her ... But she's a good girl now :)

Oh wow, Xsara did all that? She sure sounds as hyper as my Happy. Hmm...maybe I should send her for training too.

Love the work you did on the floors Xsara! But dad tells us that your mom was probably pretty upset when she came home and found that :-) Keep up the good work in your agility training.
